Tuesday-#2 infusion

Tuesday was my second chemo infusion but it almost didn't happen.  My white blood cell count (WBC) had dropped from a 7 to 1.9 since the first infusion.  The decision was made to proceed with chemo but the followup with a Neulesta shot on Thursday to promote bone marrow growth.  The side effect-bone pain :(  Also, I have to become more of a hermit and avoid places with lots of people and exposure to germs.  Hard to do when I work with students and the public on a daily basis.
Today I get unhooked from the chemo pump and then receive the shot.  Also, on Tuesday I experienced an allergic reaction to the chemo.  I became very sleepy but also trippy feeling, couldn't speak very well or had to concentrate on my words, and lost bladder control.  Now, I must take some pre meds before chemo and while wearing the pump to keep that from happening in the future.  So far no noticeable hair loss but found out it might take another couple weeks to show up.  On Tuesday I did receive a very nice chemo day care package from my work.  It is all packaged in a "Fight Like A Girl" colon cancer bag.  Lots of goodies to make the time go by quicker during chemo infusion including "Mr. Pile" the stuffed poo.  Daniel believes that he is a chocolate chip and for now I will let him think that.

  3. Nancy, so sorry you are having some problems with the chemo. I do hope the Nuelesta shot and meds before your chemo will do the trick.

Oh, I agree with Daniel, it looks just like a chocolate chip, even though I know better.
    Love you,

    1. Hi Nancy. Have wanted to contact you, but unable to log directly to your blog. Thanks Rhea for suggesting I try Anonymous. John and I are two of your prayer warriors and we both have asked our prayer groups to join us. We all continue to storm heaven on your behalf, and pray for your entire family. Love the chocolate chip story. Cooper got one of those last Christmas, and a lot of us in the room thought the same thing! Nancy, your humor, courage, determination and faith inspire us. You are amazing...keep "fighting like a girl!!"
      We love you!!
      Sandy and John.
